BACKGROUND:
I worked as an Engineering Designer for General Motors from October 2021 to January 2025. At GM I honed my 3D CAD skills in Siemens NX, where I designed and tested sheet metal, carbon fiber, and plastic injection-molded vehicle components. I primarily worked in the Hardware & Accessories group, with rotations in the Front & Rear Closures and AVD Electrical groups.
For each of my projects, I collaborated heavily with creative designers, release engineers, and third-party suppliers to ensure design needs, engineering criteria, and manufacturing requirements were met.
While at GM, I also obtained my Design for Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certifications. To accomplish this, I led two optimization projects that focused on streamlining design processes for accessories. For my Green Belt, I created a criteria spreadsheet for accessory off-road lamps that served as a visual aid to reduce engineering criteria violations early in the design process. For my Black Belt, I created an NX template that auto-designed a base model for accessory trailer hitch bezels, with built-in engineering criteria and manufacturing requirements. My template significantly reduced the design time of hitch bezels by over 99% and became a standard tool used by my team.
